The whole corpus is indexed when the site is built and shipped as static files from a content-delivery network. Your query runs in your browser, against pre-built indexes. There is no server-side query, no machine-learning re-ranker, and nothing tracking what you searched. That makes it fast and private, but it also means it behaves differently from a typical web search. Todo el corpus se indexa al compilar el sitio y se sirve como archivos estáticos desde una red de distribución de contenido (CDN). Tu consulta se ejecuta en tu navegador, contra índices ya construidos. No hay consulta en servidor, no hay reordenador con aprendizaje automático y nada registra lo que buscaste. Eso la hace rápida y privada, pero también significa que se comporta de forma distinta a una búsqueda web típica.
Results match on the literal words you type. There is no synonym expansion and no question-answering layer: tree cutting and tala are different queries. Multi-word queries are matched as a set: every term must appear in the document, and proximity counts. Documents where your terms cluster in the same paragraph rank higher than documents where they appear scattered far apart. Los resultados coinciden con las palabras literales que escribes. No hay expansión por sinónimos ni capa de preguntas y respuestas: tree cutting y tala son consultas distintas. Las consultas de varias palabras se cruzan como conjunto: todos los términos deben aparecer en el documento, y la cercanía cuenta. Los documentos donde tus términos se agrupan en el mismo párrafo se priorizan frente a aquellos donde aparecen dispersos.
Each document carries structured metadata: concept anchors (Art. 19 Ley Forestal), citation references (votos, dictámenes), and topic tags. Type a citation like Voto 4654-2003 or C-200-2009 and the canonical document surfaces directly, ahead of any keyword ranking. Type an article reference like Art. 50 Constitución and the search returns documents that anchor on that article. The same machinery powers the cross-links you see at the bottom of every document page.

Every source document (statute, court ruling, dictamen, decree) is published in Spanish, and every one is translated to English in full. The site builds separate Spanish and English indexes over those texts, so a query in either language reaches the same documents. By default a query runs against the index that matches your interface language. If you want the search to match against the original Spanish text instead (useful when you know the exact Spanish term, or when a legal phrase doesn't translate cleanly), prefix the query with es:: for example, es: cambio de uso de suelo, es: humedales, es: tala ilegal. Cards still render in your interface language; the change is which language's text the matcher is reading. The mirror prefix en: does the reverse from the Spanish UI.
Cada documento fuente (ley, sentencia, dictamen, decreto) se publica en español, y todos están traducidos al inglés en su totalidad. El sitio construye índices separados en español y en inglés sobre esos textos, de modo que una consulta en cualquier idioma alcanza los mismos documentos. Por defecto la consulta corre contra el índice del idioma de tu interfaz. Si quieres que la búsqueda coincida contra el texto traducido al inglés (útil cuando conoces el término exacto en inglés, o cuando una expresión no traduce limpiamente), antepón en:: por ejemplo, en: change of land use, en: wetlands, en: illegal logging. Las tarjetas siguen mostrándose en el idioma de tu interfaz; lo que cambia es contra qué idioma está leyendo el motor. El prefijo espejo es: hace lo inverso desde la interfaz en inglés.
The corpus is curated by hand and the search is tuned over time. If a document is filed under the wrong topic, a query you expected to work returns nothing, or you know of an important statute, ruling, or dictamen that we're missing, please contact us. Concrete reports help more than general impressions: paste the query you ran, the citation you were expecting, or the document ID that's misfiled. El corpus se cura a mano y la búsqueda se afina con el tiempo. Si un documento está clasificado bajo un tema equivocado, una consulta que esperabas que funcionara no devuelve nada, o conoces una ley, sentencia o dictamen importante que nos falta, por favor contáctanos.
